Heritage Academy – Teaching Vacancy (2026)

Heritage Academy, situated in the lush green belt of Prestbury in Pietermaritzburg, is an independent Christian school founded in 1990.

We invite applications from highly competent and efficient, suitably qualified full-time Intermediate and Senior Phase educators for 2026, to teach learners from Grades 4 to 7.

The successful candidate must be a practising Christian, committed to the values, ethos, and Christian faith of the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching all subjects from Grades 4 to 7
  • Effective classroom and learner management
  • Managing, overseeing, and coordinating subject matters
  • Active involvement in curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities
  • Completion of all educator administrative duties, including:
    • Class administration
    • Learner records and attendance registers
    • Lesson preparation files
    • Assessment records (oral and written)
  • Punctuality in accordance with organisational requirements

Minimum Inherent Requirements

  • Grade 12 plus a relevant teaching qualification and experience
  • Professional registration with SACE
  • Valid SAPS clearance
  • Reference/testimonial from a Pastor
  • Additional reference/testimonial from a reputable individual or organisation (advantageous)
  • Strong judgement and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage conflict, bullying, learner discipline, and inappropriate behaviour in line with the school’s Code of Conduct
  • Ability to work harmoniously with management, staff, and learners
